Lenovo reveals IdeaPad Yoga
At CES 2012, Lenovo has a launched a multi-mode Ultrabook that sports a new design concept that allows the user to experience both the 13.3-inch Ultrabook and tablet through four different usage modes.
The tablet will have four modes that includes a notebook, tablet, stand and tent. Due to the patented 360-degree dual-hinge flip design that Lenovo has, it will improve the stability whilst retaining its slim and lightweight design. The IdeaPad Yoga will be 16.9mm thick and weigh 1.47kg.
Intel processors will power the IdeaPad Yoga with Windows 8 as its operating system. The 13.3 display will have a resolution of 1600 by 900. The Lenovo IdeaPad Yoga due to be released later this year.
Samsung launches Series 5 Ultrabook
Samsung has unveiled its new range of Series 5 Ultrabook at CES 2012, which will be available in 13 and 14 inch models and will have lightweight design. The 13-inch model has been developed with portability in mind as it weighs only 1.38kg and is 14.9mm thick. The display screen is anti-reflective and has a resolution of 1366 by 768.
These ultrabooks are powered by an Intel Core i5 processor and has 8GB of RAM. The 13-inch model will have an integrated Intel HD Graphic 3000 card.
The 14-inch model has been designed to be slightly heavier as it weighs 1.84kg and will have AMD Radeon HD7550M 1GB graphics card.
Both ultrabooks will have 16GB iSSD with ExpressCache that offers faster boot times. Currently there is no released time for Samsung Series 5 Ultrabooks in the UK.
HP announces Envy 14 Spectre
With HP now committed to the PC market, the company has launched the “HP Envy 14 Spectre” at CES 2012. There were rumours abound before CES that HP would be showcasing a new thin and lightweight notebook.
The HP Envy 14 Spectre is a 14-inch and weighs in at 1.8kg and is 19.9mm thick. Louis Perrin, Director of Consumer Products, Personal Systems Group, HP EMEA revealed that the “Sleek, midnight black glass on the outside and stark contrast silver on the inside make Spectre extraordinary, defying conventional notebook design.”
He added, “We chose the name for our first Envy Ultrabook to evoke mystery and to satisfy those who expect the unexpected.”
The 14-inch display screen sports a resolution of 1600 by 900 with a choice of an Intel Core i5 or i7 processors. It will have Intel HD graphics and the option of having an SSD at 128GB or 256GB. There will be 4 or 6GB of RAM inside the laptop. In addition, it will have Beats audio with dedicated controls, USB 3.0 and HDMI ports.
There is no word from HP as to when the Envy 14 Spectre will be released in the UK.
