ASUS is set to unveil its Zenbook Infinity Ultrabook at the Computex 2013 event in June with ASUS saying this ultrabook will be thinner and more robust than previous versions. ASUS have taken the Zenbook to the next level in terms of form and function as it will be first Ultrabook that will have a lid that is made out of Corning’s Gorilla Glass 3.
The Gorilla Glass will be combined directly to the aluminium frame and this has allowed ASUS to trim down the thickness of the Zenbook by 14 percent to 15.5mm. The area around the keyboard will also make use of the Gorilla Glass 3, which adds another layer of protection.

Samsung has already announced the 7-inch version of the Galaxy Tab 3 and now the Korean manufacturer will be adding to this line up with an 8-inch version according to leaked specs. SamMobile is claiming that a source of theirs has sent them an image of the purported new tablet.
As far specifications goes, there will be a 3G version and Wi-Fi only version. The 8-inch display will sport a 1280 by 800 resolution and will be powered by a 1.5GHz processor. It will be backed up by 1.5GB of RAM and have 16GB of internal storage, which can be expanded by a further 64GB via the microSD card slot.

HP has announced two new tablet-laptops with the SlateBook x2 being powered by Android and the Split x2 running Windows 8. Both tablets will be full-sized that will have keyboard docks included. The difference between the two tablets is its choice of operating system.
The HP SlateBook x2 is a 10-inch tablet with a 1920 by 1200 resolution and the display will use the IPS technology. It will be powered by the quad-core Tegra 4 processor making it one of the first tablets to have this and will backed up by 2GB of RAM. It will have 16GB storage internally but this can be expanded further through the microSD slot.

Microsoft has hit back at those who claim that changes it is making to Windows 8 is a sign that the company is admitting the operating system has been a failure. Speculation has arisen all week that the Redmond company is set to bow down to pressure and re-introduced features that were seen in Windows 7 including the Start button.
The Financial Times has said the change in direction would see it become "one of the most prominent admissions of failure for a new mass-market consumer product since Coca-Cola's New Coke fiasco nearly 30 years ago."

Sony has announced a new range of Vaio laptops called “Fit”, which are set to replace the current E series of laptops as the company’s budget models. The Vaio Fit laptop has been given a new design plus its new name and comes with several standardised features.
There are four Vaio Fit laptops within the range from the lower end with the Fit 14E and Fit 15E to the higher end with the Fit 14 and Fit 15. The specs for these models will see them either have a 1920 by 1080 or 1600 by 900 display resolution. It has used technology from Bravia TV in its Vaio Fit laptops with the 1366 by 768 resolution now longer used.

Acer announced last week at an event in the New York City the Aspire R7, which is a 15.6-inch laptop that sports a hinge design with a keyboard below the trackpad. When designing the R7, Acer said it decided to rethink how people use their PCs and this is where the Ezel hinge design comes in.
The hinge on the Aspire R7 is flexible and anchors the display screen letting it sit vertically, flat or be flipped 180 degrees to glide over the keyboard. The display screen has In-Plane-Switching (IPS) with a resolution of 1920 by 1080 and 10-finger touch functionality.

At an event last week in New York City, Acer unveiled its “ultrabook convertible” tablet called the Aspire P3. The tablet has a detachable keyboard and will be powered by either a Core i3 or i5 processor and runs Windows 8. The design of Aspire P3 is reminiscent of the Windows Surface tablet with add-on keyboard and stylus pen. Acer has that this “ultrabook convertible” tablet is the first of its kind.
Acer have said that the Aspire P3 is great device for consumption and creation. The display screen will 11.6-inch with a full HD resolution. It weighs in at 3 pounds and measures three quarters of an inch thick. The battery life on this tablet comes in at a six hours with fast boot and wake-up times. In addition, it will have HDMI and USB 3.0 ports.

Acer has announced a wide range of new products in the last couple of days and one of them is a 7.9-inch tablet called the Iconia A1. The tablet will be powered by a 1.2GHz quad-core processor and runs the Android operating system. Acer is marketing this tablet for one-handed use and its attractive price point means it will be directly in competition with the Nexus 7.
The 7.9-inch screen has a display resolution of 1024 by 768 with a 4:3 aspect ratio. It has a light and thin design plus is very responsive to touch. The Iconia A1 tablet brings two new gestures that ties in with Acer’s “Touch” theme.

As Google, Apple and Microsoft look towards producing smaller tablet displays, Toshiba is going in other direction as rumoured reports are that they are going to release a 10-inch tablet that will be powered by the Tegra 4 processor.
Toshiba does not want to lose out to its competitors as yesterday a 10-inch HP tablet with a 1.8Ghz Tegra 4 processor and Android 4.2.2 was leaked. The Toshiba AT10LE-A will reportedly have an external keyboard according to images shown on the TechBlog website.

In the first quarter of 2013 more Android tablets were shipped than all other tablets combined. Figures from IDC, a technology and telecommunications research company reveals that Android now has 56.5 percent of tablet market as 27.8 million units were shipped, which represents a 247% increase on this time last year.
Apple did however shipped 65.3 percent more tablets in quarter one than they did in the same time period last year with their market share now at 39.6 percent. The figures show that the tablet market is growing all the time and that the majority of new purchases are Android.
Apple was the biggest vendor of tablets with Samsung coming in second with 8.8 million units shipped representing a 280% increase on last year. Asus were in third with 2.7 million units with Amazon following in fourth place with 1.8 million tablets shipped.
