A survey carried out by Gartner has revealed that tablet devices are being used more for personal use amongst people in the US, UK and Australia. The reasons why people were buying a tablet device instead of traditional desktop PC is its form factor as they are small and lightweight.
The survey also revealed what activities people use their tablets for with 81 percent of the participants using it to read their emails with 69 percent using it to read news articles. 62% of people used it to look at social networking sites like Facebook and Twitter. People are using the tablet to play games and read books.

Lenovo has given its laptop range a refresh with students and school children the primary focus as these laptops are “specially ruggedized for education". The Lenovo ThinkPad X131e is the successor to the X130e and comes with a better processor and graphics. Microsoft unveils Windows Surface
Microsoft announced this week that it will be launching its own tablet called Windows Surface and will be running the Windows 8 operating system. The announcement ended months of rumours with the company display two tablet devices, a 10.6-inch and 9.3-inch display with a choice of Intel and ARM-based processors.
