A problem that plagues alot of laptops is the weight, which means it can become a strain to move the device around if you need to work when on the go. This weight comes from the battery inside the device, but this extra weight could soon be changed by a new idea, a gel battery.
A new polymer gel, which can be adapted into a new type of lithium battery has been developed by physics researcher Ian Ward at the University of Leeds. This new gel battery would cost noticeably less, be lighter in weight and it would be much more energy efficient.
The new gel will be used to replace the liquid, which is currently used in laptop batteries. This process will be done through an inexpensive manufacturing process keeping the costs down. This will reduce the size and weight of the laptop battery by a surprisingly large amount.
