Overview

MacBook – Light. Years Ahead

Apple’s goal with MacBook was to do the impossible: create a full-size notebook experience in the lightest and most compact Mac ever made. This meant re-imagining every element to make it not only lighter (less than a kilogram) and thinner (13.1mm) but also better. The result is more than just a new notebook. With its stunning Retina Display, Force Touch trackpad, all new keyboard and versatile USB-C port, along with sixth-generation Intel Core M processors, improved graphics performance, faster flash storage and up to 10 hours of battery life, the new MacBook is even more capable.

12” Retina Display - Taking Everything to the Edge

The moment you open your MacBook, its gorgeous 12-inch Retina display with edge-to-edge glass brings everything into focus. With three million pixels on show and a resolution of 2304 x 1440, every photo leaps off the screen in rich, vibrant detail and every letter of text sharp and clear with crystal clarity. And it all comes to light on the thinnest Retina display ever on a Mac, meticulously honed to deliver a bold visual experience within an impossibly minimal design. It also includes IPS technology to enable a clear view from angles as wide as 178-degrees.

Full-Size Keyboard in a Fraction of the Space

A comfortable, full-size keyboard is essential for a great notebook experience. But to fit one into the elegantly thin MacBook, Apple had to completely rethink how a keyboard is engineered and constructed. They redesigned each key and its underlying mechanism — not only making the whole keyboard much thinner, but also allowing for more comfortable, precise and responsive typing. Even the backlighting is more accurate, with individual LEDs for each key that helps keys look clear and sharp.

Force Touch Trackpad

Apple have pushed the trackpad further than ever with their Force Touch trackpad. It has been engineered to provide a responsive, uniform click, no matter where you press. And underneath, force sensors detect how much pressure you’re applying. You can now use a Force click to enable useful capabilities, like quickly looking up the definition of a word or previewing a file just by clicking and continuing to press the trackpad. You’ll also experience haptic feedback — a tactile vibration from the trackpad that adds the sense of touch to what you see on the screen. These advanced capabilities work in addition to all the intuitive Multi-Touch gestures Mac users love.

USB-C – Singularly Versatile

The multifunctional USB-C port is small, versatile and reversible. Used for fast data transfer, charging, connecting accessories and video output for HDMI, VGA and DisplayPort (via an additional adapter), it is one single port with a whole host of functions. Plus, its reversible design means you’ll never find yourself plugging things in the wrong way up!

Please note: connecting peripherals via USB-C may require an additional adaptor (sold separately)

All-Day Battery Life – Ready when you are

Apple created a new, innovative terraced battery cell technology for the new MacBook, allowing every spare millimetre of space inside the slim design to be used effectively. These custom shaped designs fit the contours of the enclosure resulting in 35 percent more battery cell capacity than would have been possible with traditional rectangular batteries. This means the new MacBook contains a built-in 41.4-watt-hour lithium polymer battery which provides up to 10 hours wireless web browsing, up to 11 hours iTunes film playback and up to 30 days of standby time.

Mac OS X El Capitan

OS X powers everything you do on a Mac. And because Apple design both the hardware and software, OS X El Capitan is engineered to take full advantage of your MacBook capabilities. Designed to be as easy to use as it is beautiful to look at, it comes with an amazing collection of apps you’ll use — and love — every day.

Combined with your Multi-Touch trackpad, OS X lets you control your Mac with simple, intuitive gestures, allowing you to navigate, zoom and switch between apps with ease. Your favourite apps are easy to reach in the Dock, while Launchpad gives you quick access to everything. Finder makes it easy to browse and organise your files, with Spotlight ensuring that searching for documents and apps is effortless. It comes with amazing apps like Pages, Numbers, iPhoto, iMovie and Garageband that give you the platform you need for productivity and creativity, with thousands more great apps available for download from the App Store.

If you also own an iPhone or iPad it enables your Mac and iOS devices to work seemlessly together in ways no other computer can. You can make and receive calls on your Mac and send and receive both iMessage and SMS text messages. Start emails, documents or browsing sessions on one device and instantly pick it up on another. Plus, turn on Personal Hotspot on your iPhone from you Mac and you can get online instantly using your phone’s mobile data.
