MacBook Air – Thin & Light. Powerful & Durable.
The MacBook Air 13” is designed to be unbelievably thin and light, measuring only 1.7cm at its deepest and weighing less than 1.4kg. But it is also designed to be powerful, capable, durable and enjoyable to use. Powerful components give you smoother graphics, faster storage and all-round serious performance but with enough battery life to get you through the day. Made from lightweight aluminium, MacBook Air features a unibody design for both the main enclosure and the display, giving a higher-precision, less complex design with fewer parts. That translates to a notebook that’s exceptionally thin and light, yet durable enough to handle the rigours of everyday use. In addition, MacBook Air offers innovations you won’t find anywhere else — like the MagSafe 2 power connector, which breaks cleanly away from the notebook if you accidentally trip over the power lead. MacBook Air also features a whole host of great connectivity options, including USB 3.0, an SDXC card slot and a lighting fast Thunderbolt 2 port.
That’s the difference between a notebook that’s simply thin and light and one that’s so much more.
Millions of pixels but millimetres thin, the MacBook Air display is both an engineering feat and a design breakthrough. The display measures only 4.86mm thin but the resolution makes it feel like you are looking at a much larger screen. With a resolution of 1440 x 900 and LED backlighting making colours bright and vibrant, whether you are editing photos, perfecting a presentation or watching your favourite movie, you’re going to love what you see on the MacBook Air 13”
Fifth Generation Intel Core i5
The fifth generation Intel Core i5 processor will handle whatever you throw at it, allowing you to multi-task and work on intensive applications without experiencing any lag. Applications run faster and more efficiently than before. So everything you normally do on a computer you can do even quicker. Send email, write reports, create presentations, touch up photos, edit home movies and all the little (and big) tasks in between. The i5 uses the Intel HD Graphics 6000 GPU to ensure visuals are smooth whether you’re playing a game, watching a video or editing a photo.
Full-Size Keyboard & Multi-Touch Trackpad
It’s easy to make a thin and light notebook, but doing it without cutting corners is a challenge. A comfortable, full-size keyboard is essential for a great notebook experience, and the one that is featured in the MacBook Air is just as comfortable to type on as a desktop keyboard. LED-backlighting allows you to type in low-light conditions and built-in sensors detect changes in the ambient lighting adjusting both the keyboard and display brightness automatically.
Multi-Touch technology is part of practically every Apple product. It’s the best and most personal way to interact with your devices. And the optimal way to experience Multi-Touch on a notebook is through a trackpad. That’s precisely the case with MacBook Air. The trackpad’s spacious, all-glass surface doesn’t have a button because the whole thing is the button. And with Multi-Touch gestures in OS X, you can interact with MacBook Air in ways that feel more intuitive and realistic than ever before.
All-Day Battery Life – Ready when you are
MacBook Air 13” features a large 54-watt-hour lithium-polymer battery that works with the power-efficient fifth generation Intel Core processor to last all day. You can expect up to 12 hours of battery life on a single charge whether you are surfing the web or watching films. MacBook Air will also preserve its own battery life by entering standby mode after it’s been asleep for more than three hours, helping to conserve battery life for up to 30 days. You can even continue to receive new emails and calendar invitations while your MacBook’s asleep by enabling Power Nap.
MacBook Air supports 802.11ac Wi-Fi so you’ll be able to connect to an 802.11ac router and experience wireless performance that’s up to 3 times faster than previous generations. Bluetooth 4.0 will allow you to connect to Bluetooth enabled devices like speakers, headphones and other computers to stream and share files without wires.
Two USB 3.0 ports will allow you to connect peripheral items such as mice, printers or USB storage devices, and transfer data 10 times faster than USB 2.0 with compatible devices. The Thunderbolt 2 port allows rapid transferring of files, so you’ll save time when trying to save large files in a hurry, delivering transfer speeds of up to 20 Gbps.
The widescreen 720p FaceTime HD camera will let your friends and family see more of you in video calls and ensure that everyone can fit into a picture without having to crowd around the display. The dual microphones are great when you want to be heard, reducing background noise from behind the notebook, so your speech will be as clear as your face.
Mac OS X El Capitan
OS X powers everything you do on a Mac. And because Apple design both the hardware and software, OS X El Capitan is engineered to take full advantage of your MacBook Air capabilities. Designed to be as easy to use as it is beautiful to look at, it comes with an amazing collection of apps you’ll use — and love — every day.
Combined with your Multi-Touch trackpad, OS X lets you control your Mac with simple, intuitive gestures, allowing you to navigate, zoom and switch between apps with ease. Your favourite apps are easy to reach in the Dock, while Launchpad gives you quick access to everything. You can make and receive calls on your Mac and send and receive both iMessage and SMS text messages. Start emails, documents or browsing sessions on one device and instantly pick it up on another. Plus, turn on Personal Hotspot on your iPhone from you Mac and you can get online instantly using your phone’s mobile data.
