1996

Xenex Technologies is founded.

Xenex Technologies begins developing bespoke software solutions to businesses in the following areas: Insurance, Claims Management, Billboard Advertising, Foreign Exchange, Training Provisions, Cemeteries, Motor Manufacturing, Mobile Phone Retail, and clothing distribution.

1998

Xenex Technologies launches its first e-commerce website (www.xenex.co.uk) supplying IT products at low prices nationwide. Although most orders were being taken by phone, the site was heavily used by wholesale customers.

2004

thePCbusiness.com brand is launched as we refurbish the dominant New Town Row facing showroom which had previously been used as a training suite, and open fully to the public.

Customers are able to order at the new counter and collect a choice of over 20,000 stocked IT products within minutes from the collection point, all at web prices.

The xenex.co.uk web site is rebranded to thePCbusiness.com

2008

To focus on the expanding mobile computing market, Xenex Technologies launches the SaveOnLaptops.co.uk website.

2010

Xenex Technologies moves into a larger 35,000 square foot distribution warehouse based in Minworth, Birmingham.

Xenex Technologies is rebranded to a more customer friendly Box Limited.

The rapid growth of Box Limited places it in the Sunday Times Fast Track Award.

Intel launch the much anticipated Core I series of processors.

2012

After previous unsuccessful attempts, and with latest innovation, hardware manufacturers begin to launch various machines featuring touch screens.

2014

Customer Service Overhaul

With the combination of a new Customer Service team and 14 day money back guarantee, we flipped our CS strategy from simply seeing returns an unwelcome cost, instead we now use it as a tool to embrace our customers.

2016

Gaming Laptops become mainstream.

Over 10,000 Laptops sold with Nvidia GeForce GTX Graphics.

VR Ready Laptops now available to be used in conjunction with HTC Vive & Oculus Rift Virtual Reality Headsets. Nvidia launch GeForce GTX 10 Series Graphics cards with next generation Pascal architecture.

1997

Xenex launches its ERP in a box software system, enabling small retailers to manage their businesses like never before. Aimed at the IT retail market, the product was sold to thousands of retailers around the UK, Europe and Canada, mainly in the computer retail business.

2000

Xenex Technologies moves into new premises on New Town Row, Birmingham. The building which had previously been home to the Birmingham Apple Mac Centre had been empty due to the ironic decline in sales of Apple computers!

An IT trade counter was built at the side of the building with a large showroom, and the large glazed showroom on New Town Row was developed into a computer training suite, able to house around 50 students at a time.

2006

Our ERP software system is withdrawn from sale. We continue to support our existing large clients, many of whom are the country’s top IT retailers and wholesalers.

This allows us to focus on our own e-commerce websites.

2009

2013

Box Ltd partners with the acclaimed delivery service Collect+ which allows customers to collect from one of more than 5000 local convenience stores.

Intel launch its 4th gen Haswell Core I series processors.

Microsoft release Windows 8.1 as a free upgrade to all Windows 8 users.

2015

1 Million Customer Invoices

Windows 10 launches in late July - according to Microsoft it is the last version of Windows and will be updated on a continuous basis. Microsoft offer a free upgrade to all Windows 7 and 8.1 users.

Intel launch its 5th gen Broadwell Core I series processors.
